Sleep Care Packs
It’s not always easy getting a good night’s sleep in a busy hospital environment and a lack of sleep can lead to a slower recovery. Using donated sleep masks and earplugs, Dr Edward Palmer of Nelson Hospital undertook a research project which showed the use of sleep masks and earplugs improved patients’ sleep quality during their hospital stay.
The Care Foundation is proud to be able to support this research by providing free Sleep Care Packs to all adult patients at Nelson and Wairau Hospitals. The packs contain a sleep mask and ear plugs to help reduce disturbances while patients rest and after all better rest means better and quicker recovery.
Donations from Grateful Patients have made it possible to provide the Sleep Care Packs and recipients are invited to ‘pay it forward’ and donate to The Care Foundation to ensure that future patients receive the same sleep benefits.
